Kim Hyeon-hui is a mass murderer and former North Korean spy who blew up a plane in 1987 on the orders of Kim Jong-un's father.

According to Kim Hyeon-hui, the regime hopes to separate South Korea from its ally the United States and eventually try to unify the Korean peninsula under communist rule.
"North Korea is using the Olympics as a tool," Kim Hyon-hui said. "He is trying to avoid sanctions by joining hands with South Korea, trying to get rid of international isolation."

The Korean War ended in 1953 with an armistice rather than a peace treaty, meaning the neighbors remain officially at war. Tensions have intensified over the past year with the North's nuclear and missile tests and apocalyptic rhetoric from Kim Jong-un and President Donald Trump. Kim has repeatedly threatened to destroy the US and the South, while Trump has threatened Pyongyang with "fire and fury".

They landed at Abu Dhabi before continuing on to Seoul. It never operated, exploding over the Andaman Sea, killing 115 people on board, most of them South Koreans.

"When I was given the mission, my role was to disrupt the Olympics in Seoul," he told NBC News. Kim Hyeon-hui didn't hesitate or doubt, but said she had an unusual feeling on the plane.

"The moment I got on the plane, I thought, 'This is an enemy state.' For a brief moment I thought everyone on this plane was going to die, but I was afraid to even feel that way. I shouldn't have these feelings. I was taught to follow orders like a robot. I tried to get rid of these feelings, thinking that it was necessary to make sacrifices to bring people together. In North Korea you can't have such doubts because if you do, your ideology is corrupted and you will be killed or sent to a POW camp. "

Then came the only moment in the 70-minute interview where he showed any emotion.
When asked if he can still see the faces of the people he killed, Kim Hyeon-hui says, "Not really."

He managed to detonate the plane, but could not escape. Kim Hyeon-Hui was stopped by Bahraini police, who took a cyanide capsule from his cigarette before killing himself like a spy friend.
