staccato xc review

Staccato Xc Review - When the STI made the staccato "conversion" a few years ago, I wasn't impressed. I really liked the STI, I thought Staccato was a silly name, and I thought their new molded plastic grips were a huge step up from the cool hand formed DVC grips.

Well, I wandered. Turns out there's nothing wrong with a new name, and I personally like the company's new direction. And to my surprise, the Gen 2 grip fit my hands better than the old grips. I was wrong, they were right.

I'll also add that the Staccato tilt design is my favorite look, and the combination of them in front of the front and rear slides instead of the Buick port holes might be my favorite change. Compared to my old DVC-P, the Staccato XC got an additional beaver tail joint that gave me a hot spot, a 10-8 slide stop that I preferred over the old STI unit, and much better trigger pull relief.

Review: Staccato 2011 P Optic Ready

Compared to my Nighthawk Firehawk DS that I traded in for the XC, the XC is a bit flatter and faster. If I were to shoot at normal speeds or maybe just irons, it would be very difficult to tell the difference between the two. When I was really sticking to the plate rack, the Firehawk would get a little "bounce" in the front where the XC stayed stable. Understand that it's relative, compared to almost everything else, the Firehawk is exceptionally flat and smooth. As far as plate racks go, the XC was immediately and repeatedly faster than the Firehawk for me, likely due to the more natural feel with the Gen 2 grip and lighter trigger. I will say that I think the Nighthawk's iOS is far superior to the Staccatos DPO system, but the CHPWS plate helped bridge that gap.

Overall, I was very impressed with the pistol's repeatability, even during runs where it felt like it shot more randomly than anything other than the 2011 Were fast. The only downside was that it didn't care that my American Eagle shot a 147 grain bullet and couldn't feed at least 1 bullet out of each magazine it was loaded with. It worked flawlessly with American Eagle 124 grain and Federal HST 147 grain.

It's not often you see someone in NH trading in an STI... price it for what works for you.

Did the NH have a full length dust cover? I'm sure an extra 1/2 ounce on the nose would have made a difference.

Both of them are drawn slightly differently with the added weight of the frame.

Wmiller said: Nice pistol. Q: Do you think the new Gen 2 handlebars will fit the old STI frame? Click to expand... Depends on how old it is. From my understanding, they are not directly compatible with pre-2019 STIs. That said, I've seen some people manage to modify the handles to fit them on older frames. Hilton Yah made a video explaining a bit about the time he first switched hands. I don't know how difficult or time consuming it would be to put one together

If it can be customized, I can probably do it. Given that I still modify most of my 1911/2011s.

I'm in a (first world) conundrum: Staccato XC or Atlas Athena? I think the XC will be hard to beat in terms of feel, but the Athena will have strong resale value in 5/10 years with top-notch construction. $4.3k vs $5.6k... No, I don't need both.

Not to hijack the XC thread, but what do addicts say? Click to expand... Well, I don't have Athena, but I do have Atlas Erebus, and it's my favorite, hands down. The XC is a fill-in for me and I like the plastic grip because it's lighter and I usually shoot at the outdoor range in Texas and my metal grip pistols get pretty hot in the summer. That said, as good as the XC, Trigger, Ergos, etc. are, the Atlas is even better. There is no gun I love shooting more than my Atlas.

But, in terms of resale, the XC is definitely a safe bet. Staccatos are known to more people and have a larger audience to sell to. Look at the top seller listings for Comped STI's and Staccatos and they are pretty close to new purchase price and they have been making these for Costa Comp, Omni, DVC-P, XC for a while now. Most people don't know or care about Atlas, and because of the small market, you'll probably lose more money if you have to flip it.

Not to hijack the XC thread, but what do addicts say? Click to expand... I'm in a very similar boat, but prefer the Artemis from Atlas. It's a tough call, but the safety of the hands and the lack of factory customization really push me towards the Atlas. I also like the Infinity, but they basically told me to install iron or do a red dot, but not both, where the Atlas is installed, it's better to run.

Not to hijack the XC thread, but what do addicts say? Click to expand... Been in the same boat but with different models. Compare the Staccato P and XL to the Atlas Hyperion and Titan. Atlas is the best in every way except price. None of them were mine, so this was a completely objective assessment. The fit/finish, trigger, ergonomics, recoil/lack of muzzle rise were all much better than the Atlas pistols that were also tested.

I'm going to say that I have an XC that I love but will be here for sale as my Artemis arrives on Wednesday. XC was flawless, but when I got Artemis (not yet shot, mind you) I didn't "need" XC. However, a 5-inch compact 9mm is hard to beat, and the XC is remarkably flat. Neither one can go... it's just that Artemis is $$$$ more.

Staccato Xc Review

You always take such great pictures. It's interesting that you came out on Staccato. I love my old STI CB and the grip is very comfortable, but I've since switched to an ultra steep/aggressive grip. Now I have to try Staccato after logging into Phoenix Trinity Honcho. You are the only one influencing me to spend more money
